The first scene
A short scene with everything around it in place.
How to do it
- 01
Spend half an hour agreeing three things before anything starts: what may happen, what may not, and which word stops everything without discussion. Write them down. Memory is worse than people think when they are in the middle of it.
- 02
Keep the scene short — twenty minutes. A scene that ends while both still want it is a better beginning than one that ends because it ran out.
- 03
Stay lying down afterwards. A blanket, water, no phones, and no debriefing before the next day at the earliest.
Whoever let go can dip a day later without anything having gone wrong. Agree beforehand who says so.

What you both want.
