The long scene
One scene long enough that its middle is the point, built so that it can be stopped.
How to do it

Set a timer that goes off every forty minutes, and everything halts when it does: water, a look at hands and feet, one plain question answered in plain words. Then it starts again — or it does not.

Decide beforehand what the last forty minutes are not allowed to contain. What is good to turn up in the first hour is bad to turn up in the third, and nobody in the middle of it is the right judge of that.

Eat afterwards. A long scene costs more sugar and more water than either of you will believe at the time.
A yes at the start does not stretch by itself to the third hour. Anything that leaves marks has to be decided before it begins: a bruise from Saturday is still on the body at the doctor’s on Tuesday, and it does not know it was agreed to.
