Wax and ice
Two temperatures on the same skin, and one of you never knows which is coming.
Why it works
Two temperatures on the same skin make it pay more attention than either does alone. That one of you does not know which is coming is the whole point, so the order must not be workable. The height you hold the candle at decides the heat more than the type does.
How to do it
- 01
Buy candles made for this, low-melt paraffin or soy wax. Scented candles and beeswax burn too hot. Put down an old sheet, and try a drop on your own forearm before anything touches the other person.
- 02
Blindfold on, and stay on the chest, stomach, thighs and back. The higher you hold the candle the cooler it lands, start half a metre up and only come closer if you are asked to.
- 03
Switch to ice without saying so. The alternation between hot and cold is the whole point, and it only works while the order cannot be guessed.
What usually goes wrong
The wrong candles. Scented candles and beeswax burn too hot and do not belong here. A candle that has burned a while is also hotter than the one you tested at the start. No wax on the face, the hair or the genitals, and have cold water out before you begin.
Wax has no business on the face, in hair, or on the genitals, and a candle that has burned a long time is hotter than the one you tested. Keep cold water to hand: if the skin still stings after you have cooled it, that is a burn and not a sensation.
